I am the science and climate reporter for SFGATE and, until September 2027, a California Local News Fellow through the UC Berkeley Journalism School.
As a youngster growing up in Berkeley, I first reported on the climate for my public high school’s newspaper. That experience sparked my dedication to inclusive, accurate and nuanced science journalism. I earned my B.A. in environmental studies and English from Wesleyan University and my M.S. in science communication from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Previously, during my four years as a staff reporter and editor for the Point Reyes Light, I wrote about rising seas, drought, agriculture, conservation and rural life. My work has also appeared in Science, KQED, Mongabay, Eos and Civil Eats.
